Lots of groups at Assist gradually help people to learn to travel safely and more independently.
For those who are able to progress to more independent travelling, Assist has its own travel training scheme set up. Travel training is overseen by our in-house Occupational Therapists who help to support individuals on a 1 to 1 basis, using carefully developed paperwork to help assess and monitor progress.
Members are only signed-off as safe for independent travel once they have clearly showed an ability to manage all aspects of the task within that specific journey.
We are currently able to provide some travel training support for our members if needed working within the COVID 19 guidelines for accessing public transport. Members attending or families of members who have any questions or need for advice regarding travel training should contact firstname.lastname@example.org , by phone on 01603 230200 or via our social media channels on FaceBook, Twitter and YouTube.
