Café Assistant required

Working hours: 9:30am – 2:30pm weekdays

Rate: £12 per hour

Contract type: One year fixed term to begin with. Permanent following 1 year review.

We are currently looking for a friendly, well organised and respectful individual to work at the Assist Trust café at the Norman Centre in Norwich.

The Assist Trust Café Assistant works alongside other staff members to support  Assist Trust members (adults with learning disabilities) in order to feel more confident, learn work skills and to gradually do more for themselves.

The Café Assistant will take responsibility for all functions connected with the preparation of hot food in particular and will learn all procedures at the café so that they can run all operations on occasions.

Applicants must be patient, approachable and able to stay calm under pressure. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities is desirable but not essential. A mature, positive and respectful attitude is crucial.

Everything we do at Assist is aimed at helping people to gain skills, to understand real life expectations and to gradually become more independent in their lives.

The successful applicant will undertake an enhanced DBS check.

Assist Trust Life Skills Tutor

Rate: £23,088 per annum, pro rata (£12 per hour)

Hours: 35 per week, 8.30am to 4pm Monday – Friday

Part time hours can be considered.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, positive and respectful workers to join our team as Life Skills Tutors.

Life Skills Tutors work alongside Assist Trust members (adults with learning disabilities) in order to help them feel more confident and gradually do more for themselves.

Everything we do at Assist is aimed at helping people to gain skills, to understand real life expectations and to gradually become more independent in their lives.

Successful Life Skills Tutor applicants will be friendly, approachable, organised, professional and keen to support individuals to greater independence with a respectful and strength based approach.

A background in working with adults with learning disabilities is desirable, but a good attitude and a willingness to see individuals succeed in life is essential.

The successful applicant will undertake an enhanced DBS check.
