Making a Referral
Most members attending Assist will have had a Care Act assessment carried out by a Social Worker, which has identified areas of unmet need that a service like Assist can help with. Some members are referred to Assist by their Social Workers directly, but often families will get in touch after hearing about the charity through word of mouth.
Either way, it is important to understand that Social Service funding can only be accessed for Assist services through the assessment and unmet need route – and Social Workers will also explore other options available before committing to the funding required. Some families opt to pay for services privately.
Visiting Assist and talking to one of the Operations Managers is generally the best way to see what is on offer day to day. Free taster days can also be arranged at mutually agreeable times, to help individuals get a proper feel for the whole set up before making a final decision about attending.
