New Developments

Moving On...
On May 6th 2008, Assist started using new facilities at 22 - 24 Colegate in Norwich. This 3-storey building, owned by Norwich City Council, will be used as an extension of the activities carried out at Lazar House and Heath Gardens (on the ground floor) and as training flats for members seeking greater independence (1st and 2nd floors).

The ongoing and increasing demand for its services prompted Assist to look for additional premises in 2007.

The property at Colegate - although requiring a good deal of renovation and decoration - offered ample space to carry out a wide variety of activities to support people towards independence and was ideally located to allow easy access into the City. On top of that, the 1st and 2nd floors had in a previous life been designed to be used as self contained flats - 2 singles and 2 doubles. With considerable work and expense, these flats are now being renovated to provide accomodation for the members of Assist. Many individuals are itching to try out independent living but either do not have suitable opportunities available or are unable to cope with the stress and pressure of moving away from secure family or residential homes.

These flats are due to be ready for occupation by August 2008.

The total cost for completely renovating, redecorating, furnishing and staffing at Colegate will be approximately £160,000
