Information
The Assist Trust was formed in 1995 offering day services initially to around 25 adults with learning difficulties from Norwich and around Norfolk.
After several years of making the best of unpromising accomodation, Assist moved to its current headquarters - Lazar House - in 2004. Two short years later, new offices were opened at Upper Goat Lane in the City, in order to support the growing number of individuals who had achieved a degree of independence. Many of those people have left day services altogether.
Over 100 individuals now enjoy an ever-growing list of activities provided by Assist, all designed to help them grow in confidence and to learn the skills they need as they become more independent. Most individuals are referred by their Social Worker although people often get in touch after hearing about us through others.
In order to offer the best opportunities to its members, Assist now works closely with Adult Education, the Shaw Trust, Meridean East, Norfolk Social Services and numerous other organisations and local businesses. With a growing network of friends and allies, Assist is now able to help more and more people find the chances they need to realise their full potential.
